Sage green shaker kitchen with white quartz island, woven leather barstools, open oak shelving, wine fridge, and breakfast nook beyond — Corte Madera Residence by Mokume Design Studio

Corte Madera

Corte Madera, CA
  • Set within a quiet hillside neighborhood in Marin, this home was purchased by Mairin and Brian with the intention of creating a long-term residence for their growing family. The renovation encompassed the full three-story house as well as a modest attached ADU. Throughout the process, our clients’ warmth and clarity of vision guided the design, allowing the project to unfold naturally and with a sense of purpose.

The interior was refined to enhance the home’s relationship to light and landscape. Windows were thoughtfully positioned to draw natural light deep into the space and to frame views of the garden beyond. Materials were selected for their warmth and durability — natural woods, restrained finishes, and subtle textures that feel both contemporary and enduring. The aesthetic nods to classic California interiors, layered with subtle nautical references that pay homage to the couple’s East Coast roots.
